01 Jan Anthony Romero vs. Mike Breeden set for Dana White’s Contender Series on Aug. 25
An exciting lightweight bout has been added to Dana White’s Contender Series this summer.
Multiple people with knowledge of the promotion’s plans confirmed to MMA Fighting that Anthony Romero will take on Mike Breeden at an event scheduled for Aug. 25. All Contender Series events take place at UFC APEX in Las Vegas, with athletes competing in front of White and matchmakers Sean Shelby and Mick Maynard for the opportunity to earn a UFC contract.
Romero is unbeaten in his professional career and is one of the brightest prospects out of Canada. “The Genius” has earned six of his seven victories competing for King of the Cage. In his most recent appearance, the 23-year-old finished Jacob Miller via TKO in under one minute at Ohio Combat League 7.
Breeden enters the bout riding a three-fight winning streak, finishing all three via strikes. “Money” ended a successful 2019 campaign with back-to-back impressive performances for LFA. The Glory MMA standout defeated Chel Erwin-Davis with a nasty body punch at LFA 67, and followed up with a flying knee knockout win over Brandon Jenkins at LFA 77 in September.
The fourth season of Dana White’s Contender Series is expected to kick off Aug. 4 and run each week through mid-October.
