01 Jan Clay Guida vs. Michael Johnson booked for UFC event during Super Bowl weekend
A lightweight clash between two veteran has been booked for a UFC event planned on Feb. 6 during Super Bowl weekend as Clay Guida is expected to face off with Michael Johnson.
Guida initially revealed news about the fight on his Instagram with additional sources confirming the matchup to MMA Fighting on Sunday.
The fight will serve as an opportunity for Guida to get back on track after suffering two losses in a row in his most recent appearances. Guida fell by guillotine choke to Jim Miller and then lost a unanimous decision to Bobby Green back in June.
Overall, Guida is 1-3 in his past four fights with his lone win coming against UFC Hall of Famer B.J. Penn.
As for Johnson, he’ll also look to return to the win column after suffering three consecutive losses in a row. After earning a pair of wins over Artem Lobov and Andre Fili, Johnson fell to Josh Emmett, Stevie Ray and Thiago Moises in his past three fights.
Now the former Ultimate Fighter finalist will seek a win while facing off with Guida on Feb. 6.
A heavyweight showdown between Alistair Overeem and Alexander Volkov is expected to headline the Super Bowl weekend card in early 2021.
