01 Jan Ian Heinisch gets quick turnaround versus Brendan Allen at June 27 UFC event
Middleweight Ian Heinisch isn’t wasting any time after UFC 250.
Hot on the heels of a first-round TKO over Gerald Meerschaert at this past Saturday’s pay-per-view card, Heinisch has signed to face Brendan Allen at the UFC’s June 27 card at UFC APEX in Las Vegas.
Combate first reported the pairing after Allen tweeted that he’d signed a contract for his next fight, and MMA Fighting confirmed the news with sources close to the fighters.
Heinisch snapped a two-fight skid with his win at UFC 250 and looks to put up back-to-back wins. He nearly was pulled from the pay-per-view card when one of his cornermen initially tested positive for COVID-19. But the test was later deemed to be a false positive, allowing him to compete.
Contender Series veteran Allen has racked up two wins under the UFC banner, stopping Kevin Holland and Tom Breese in respective bouts.
The event is expected to be headlined by a lightweight fight between ex-interim champ Dustin Poirier and Dan Hooker, though the bout hasn’t been finalized.
The current fight card for the June 27 event includes:
- Mickey Gall vs. Mike Perry
- Ian Heinisch vs. Brendan Allen
- Aspen Ladd vs. Sara McMann
- Viviane Araujo vs. Jennifer Maia
- Alexa Grasso vs. Ji Yeon Kim
- Maurice Greene vs. Gian Villante
- Tanner Bosier vs. Philipe Lins
