01 Jan Ketlen Vieira vs. Yana Kunitskaya pushed back a week, now set for UFC event on Aug. 8
Ketlen Vieira and Yana Kunitskaya will have an extra week to prepare for their showdown as the UFC moved their bantamweight bout from Aug. 1 to Aug. 8, multiple sources told MMA Fighting following a report by MyMMANews.
Vieira (10-1) was originally booked to meet Marion Reneau on May 9, but the Sao Paulo pay-per-view event was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic and Vieira was unable to travel to the United States to compete on other shows.
Nova Uniao’s “Fenomeno” is looking to get back on track after suffering the first loss of her professional MMA career, a first-round knockout to Irene Aldana in December 2019.
Kunitskaya (12-5, 1 no contest) most recently fought a week prior to Vieira’s previous octagon appearance, losing via third-round stoppage to Aspen Ladd.
The former Invicta FC champion, who spent the last few weeks training with boyfriend Thiago Santos in Brazil, was riding a two-fight winning streak over Lina Lansberg and Reneau prior to her setback.
The UFC Fight Night card will be headlined by a five-round heavyweight clash between Derrick Lewis and Alexsei Oleinik and is expected to take place at UFC Apex in Las Vegas.
