Missed Fists: Cup-cracking kick ends fight in eight seconds, the sweet sounds of Pudzian Band, more

Welcome to the latest edition of Missed Fists where we shine a light on fights from across the globe that may have been overlooked in these hectic times where it seems like there’s an MMA show every other day.

In our quest to bring you the best hidden gems from the regional and international MMA scene, sometimes we have to set our sights lower than one might expect; that is to say, for the second week in a row we’re leading with a fight ending because one guy got smacked in the yabos and we’re not apologizing for it.

Ibrahim ElSawi vs. Yuri Fraga
Juscelino Ferreira vs. Tarek Suleiman
Ahmad Al Darmaki vs. Kagimu Ivan Kigga
Atabek Abdimitalipov vs. Omar Emad
Alphonse Viny Bessala vs. Mohammad Kareem Al Jannan

AL: The kick. The sound. The on-point commentary (“That was really hard”) The stretcher job.

Ladies and gentleman, Ibrahim ElSawi presents your frontrunner for d*ck-kick of the year.

JM: That… that looked so painful. It was never anything but a missile to the nethers.

AL: That cup is a goner.

JM: HE BROKE THE CUP?!?!?

I hurt all over just thinking about that. I guess he should’ve listened to Joe Rogan about Diamond cups.

AL: Let’s hope our checks and a few free cups are in the mail.

That clip comes to you courtesy of UAE Warriors 11 (free replay available on YouTube), which took place in Abu Dhabi last Friday. Fortunately, there were plenty of highlights from this show to help us move on from that grim ending (if that’s even possible), such as this wicked KO and show of restraint by Juscelino Ferreira in the evening’s main event.

#UAEWarriors11 Main Event:

Juscelino Ferreira flattens Tarek Suleiman with a devastating left hook to the jaw. R1 KO. Nice restraint shown on the follow up. pic.twitter.com/KnVYm77sLy

— caposa (@Grabaka_Hitman) June 12, 2020

He literally checked himself before he wrecked someone else.

JM: That was bad for Suleiman’s health.

Ferreira didn’t come real stealth.

He dropped bombs on Suleiman.

F*ck car alarms. (I didn’t have a good way to end this).

AL: Oh, bars?

Unlike some other shows we’ve featured here recently, UAE Warriors 11 actually featured at least a handful of fighters with respectable records, including Ferreira who improved to 11-2 with this win. At 34, he’s on the older side for a light heavyweight prospect, but he’s now won four straight and could be coming to a larger platform soon.

On the other side of things, Ahmad Al Darmaki brought a 2-4 record into his bout with pro debutante Kagimu Ivan Kigga, but based on this post-fight reaction from both men you’d have thought this was a pay-per-view headliner.

Ahmad Al Darmaki forces Kagimu Ivan Kigga to tap with the guillotine, but the fun doesn’t stop there. #UAEWarriors11 pic.twitter.com/cHXCw6p19a

— caposa (@Grabaka_Hitman) June 12, 2020

Take it easy, fellas!

JM: I’ve never understood the urge to fight someone right after you’ve just fought them. Like, dude, you LITERALLY just did this.

AL: From the “Jesus Didn’t Tap” department, we have Omar Emad challenging Atabek Abdimitalipov to break his arm.

Atabek Abdimitalipov submits Omar Emadeldien via nasty first round armbar. Yeah, that arm is done for a little bit. #UAEWarriors11 pic.twitter.com/UHoTEIpvX5

— caposa (@Grabaka_Hitman) June 12, 2020

I didn’t see anything pop, so that’s probably a good sign. On the other hand, OUCHIE OUCHIE!

JM: For real, Abdimitalipov just kept going with it so long that I wasn’t even sure he was getting hurt. Homie has some real Gumby arms that are even Gumbier after that torque.

AL: And for our Humpty Dumpty Fall of the Week, here’s Alphonse Viny Bessala causing Mohammad Kareem Al Jannan to turn into an EA UFC glitch after scoring a 22-second knockout.

Alphonse Viny Bessala KO’s Alphonse Viny Bessala in 22 seconds. Clean left hook. #UAEWarriors11 pic.twitter.com/t2OhqIf579

— caposa (@Grabaka_Hitman) June 12, 2020

JM: Not gonna lie, I was not expecting this one. Mainly because Bessala kept his chin up and moved his head directly back a bunch so I thought for sure he was gonna be the one to get got. That was a great shot from Bessala though. Al Jannan wasn’t overly aggressive but he left a window open and boy did he pay for it.

Hector Perez vs. Juan Torres

AL: Top Rank Boxing was back in business last week, but degenerates like myself could only talk about Yenifel Vicente’s incredible low blow barrage. That’s a shame when you have refined athletes like Hector Perez and one-time Bellator fighter Juan Torres stepping into the ring and…

THE highlight… pic.twitter.com/sofNSmGYTb

— ShayMyName (@ImShannonTho) June 17, 2020

… okay, now we’re done talking about low blows. Just keep in mind, kids, Perez went on to win this bout by decision, so use your fouls if you got ‘em!

JM: What, no “Who blew it better?” poll for our two shots to the nether regions this week?

AL: I beg your pardon?

i felt that. pic.twitter.com/VRLcutQji8

Piotr Szeliga vs. Krystian Pudzianowski
Oli Thompson vs. Szymon Bajor
Michal Kita vs. Igor Pokrajac
Adam Palasz vs. Marcin Sianos

AL: Okay, I admit it. We buried the lede here.

Fight Exclusive Night 28 went down in Lublin, Poland, on Saturday and no, gentle reader, you’re not mistaken for thinking that name at the top of this section looks familiar. Krystian Pudzianowski is indeed the younger brother of Polish sports star Mariusz Pudzianowski.

And indeed, the two have a band called Pudzian Band, which according to trusty Wikipedia was once part of a concert that took place in front of 190,000 people. This probably isn’t news to avid followers of Polish MMA as Mariusz has walked out to the brothers’ music before, but if you haven’t heard their songs, well, let me put it this way: S*it is FIRE.

JM: Sorry Tyron Woodley, but this is the best MMA music since the IFL rap. Pudz brothers for life.

AL: How did Krystian actually do in his second pro fight? Not great!

Zaskoczenie? Piotr Szeliga pokonuje Krystiana Pudzianowskiego ⚡️ Emocje były ogromne! #FEN28 #MMA pic.twitter.com/w0WpR12g6k

— FEN MMA (@FENmma) June 13, 2020

His co-main event fight with Piotr Szeliga was two slabs of muscle slapping together as the MMA gods intended and even though the fight was scheduled for just three three-minute rounds, they still looked completely gassed by the second.

JM: It’s not every day you see front kicks collide from two behemoths of men. This fight was everything I want in MMA. Awful and disheartening, but hilarious and fun. Like watching my drunk friends fight if my drunk friends were yoked like plow oxen.

Oli Thompson nokautuje Szymona Bajora i zgarnia pierwszy, historyczny pas FEN wagi ciężkiej! Niesamowity cios! #FEN28 pic.twitter.com/elqXxEkSLr

— FEN MMA (@FENmma) June 13, 2020

AL: Heavyweight veteran Oli Thompson is still getting it done, picking up his first 21st pro win and a heavyweight title here with a thudding right hand that bounced off of Szymon Bajor’s temple.

JM: Thompson repping the oldest martial art in the world: being strong as f*ck. I can’t believe how much of a career Thompson has made in MMA. Good for him.

AL: Speaking of veterans, Michael Kita fought Igor Pokrajac and the bout came to an end when Kita caught a kick and turned Pokrajac into the proverbial “one-legged man in an asskicking contest.”

JM: I gotta say, I’m a big fan of FENs promotional strategy of just nothing but heavyweight fights.

AL: As fun as all that was, the best finish of the night may have belonged to Adam Palasz.

He was putting a pounding on Marcin Sianos, which prompted Sianos to turn his back on Palasz, resulting in Sianos getting Horodecki’d.

JM: Nah man, this is basically a mirror image of Matt Brown icing Jeremy May on The Ultimate Fighter 7. Only if it was set to way more interesting music.

AL: Before we move on, added props to FEN for having some sweet decision music.

Szymon Obroslak vs. Jakub Syc

Let’s complete a combat sports trifecta by presenting this Szymon Obroslak head kick from the HFO: Aim High kickboxing show in Warsaw (the full fight can be watched free here).

pic.twitter.com/LuYaNNc1jU

— Streetfight Banned-cho (@streetfitebncho) June 13, 2020

Obroslak wanted this KO bad and despite Jakub Syc’s best efforts, he learned the hard way that there is nowhere to run in the ring.

JM: Ironic to have an event called “Aim High” on week of so many low blows.

Also, holy hell I love this guy. Obroslak fought like I do on EA UFC — just spam jumping attacks and see what happens. I’d watch this kid fight every night.

AL: Szymon says… get head kicked!
