Pedro Munhoz wants Dana White to give him rematch ‘now’ after UFC on ESPN 15 loss to Frankie Edgar

Top bantamweight Pedro Munhoz has a bad taste in his mouth after UFC on ESPN 15 and wants UFC President Dana White to book him a rematch with Frankie Edgar.

The Brazilian vet took to Instagram on Monday to demand from White a rematch with Edgar, who on Saturday took home a split decision that saw one judge diverge widely from the remaining two.

Veteran officials Eric Colon and Derek Cleary gave the Edgar the fight via scores of 48-47, agreeing the former lightweight champ won rounds 3 and 5. Sal D’Amato, another veteran of high-profile UFC fights, had Munhoz winning four of five rounds, giving Edgar only the second frame.

Munhoz didn’t take any shots at Edgar, whom he praised as a “legend.” But based on the media’s assessment of the winner and stats, he said the judges got it wrong.

I’ve always done my talking in the octagon but this needs to be said. I work too hard to get screwed by poor judges who have no training and even less accountability. Look at the stats and the damage. Look at the 17 of 20 media sites who agreed I won, 7 of which had it 49-46. Tell me how the deciding judge gave round 3 to Frankie. He’s a legend, but I won that fight and want a rematch now @danawhite Sempre falei dentro octagon, nas minhas atitudes, mas isso precisa ser dito.

Edgar touted his win as a comeback to critics that questioned his viability after a third failed bid for the featherweight title and recent stoppage loss to Chan Sung Jung, which prompted him to move down in weight. He said his first bantamweight win established him as a contender, though UFC President Dana White said the ex-champ has some work to do.

“I think the sky’s the limit for myself,” Edgar said. “I didn’t look slow in there. Pedro’s a top dog, and that makes me a top dog.”

Although immediate rematches are extremely rare in non-title fights, Munhoz holds out hope that White will make Edgar prove himself again with a second bout.
