01 Jan UFC books Jussier Formiga vs. Alex Perez for June 6
Alex Perez will have another test against a high-ranked flyweight when he meets Jussier Formiga at the June 6 UFC card, multiple sources confirmed to MMA Fighting. Combate first reported the news.
The 28-year-old California-native is on a two-fight winning streak, a decision over Mark De La Rosa and a first-round arm-triangle choke finish against Jordan Espinosa in January.
Perez (23-5) is 5-1 in the UFC after his successful appearance on Dana White’s Contender Series in 2017, suffering his only octagon defeat to perennial flyweight contender Joseph Benavidez.
Formiga (23-7) competed at the last UFC show on March 14, losing a decision to Brandon Moreno. The Brazilian veteran holds wins over the likes of Deiveson Figueiredo and Sergio Pettis, but looks to snap a two-fight skid.
The UFC has yet to officially announce the event and its location. The June 6 show currently includes Amanda Nunes vs. Felicia Spencer for the featherweight championship and a bantamweight showdown between Cody Garbrandt and Raphael Assuncao.
