01 Jan UFC on ESPN 12 results: Mike Perry punishes Mickey Gall to win unanimous decision in co-main event
All Mike Perry needs in this life of sin is just him and his girlfriend.
On Saturday night with only his significant other Latory Gonzalez in his corner, Perry put on one of his best performances in recent memory as he earned a signature knockdown and ultimately outgrappled Mickey Gall before winning a unanimous decision in the UFC on ESPN 12 co-main event.
“It’s all to me,” Perry said after bouncing back from two straight losses. “Every time we get in there, it’s all up to me. I trained for this like a professional. I made weight like a professional. I looked great.”
Despite the obvious power advantage from Perry on the feet, Gall was actually doing well on his feet in the early going. The New Jersey native showcased a strong lead jab and brutal kick to the body that reverberated throughout the empty UFC APEX facility.
In a reversal of fortune, Perry actually managed to take Gall to the ground while looking to hammer away with punches and elbows from the top.
Once the fight got back to the feet, however, Gall continued to actually land effective strikes until Perry came over the top with a devastating right hand that landed behind the ear. Gall crashed to the canvas, but held on for the final few seconds with Perry trying to drive his head through the floor with elbows.

As the fighters came out at the start of the third round, Perry was fresher on his feet while Gall was gasping for oxygen. With Perry stalking forward, the heavy-handed welterweight was trying to take Gall’s head off with every shot thrown.
Late in the fight, Perry took the fight down to the ground one more time as he continued to punish Gall with strikes. While he wasn’t able to put Gall away, Perry was clearly in control and when the horn sounded, he knew the decision was going his way.
While he was happy to get the win with only his girlfriend by his side, Perry said afterward that he’s going to now begin his search for a new team as he moves forward in his UFC career.
