01 Jan UFC on ESPN 13 weigh-in results: Two miss weight, one fight canceled
Headliners Calvin Kattar and Dan Ige were on weight for Wednesday’s UFC card in Abu Dhabi, but there were a few hiccups at the scale.
Two fighters missed weight at Tuesday’s weigh-ins and one fight was canceled ahead of UFC on ESPN 13. Welterweight Abdul Razzak Alhassan weighed in at 174 pounds, three pounds over the limit, while featherweight Chris Fishgold weighed in at 149 pounds, also three pounds over the limit.
Alhassan and Fishgold will now fight their respective opponents Mounir Lazzez and Jared Gordon at a catchweight and they will be fined 20 percent of their purses.
In addition to those misses, a light heavyweight bout between Kenneth Bergh and Jorge Gonzalez has been canceled after Bergh was deemed “medically unfit to compete” due to weight cut issues. Gonzalez still successfully made weight, presumably so that he is eligible to receive his show purse. MMA Viking was first to report Bergh’s withdrawal.
The UFC released the following statement regarding Bergh’s status:
Due to weight management issues, light heavyweight Kenneth Bergh has been ruled medically unfit to compete and his fight against Jorge Gonzalez is canceled.
